Launched in 1978 by Powell Hargrave of Vancouver Island, BC. Not sure what town. He took her to Tahiti at least once with rumors of a second time. He then sold her to a German/Canadian couple in BC who had her for about 6 years and played in and around the straits of Georgia.

I bought her Jan 2000 and brought her down to San Francisco July 2000, after a few weeks of 'fixing' her while up in BC.

She is cold-molded instead of hard-chined. Appears to be Douglas fir strips, varying in width. Max width 8" or so.  Entire surface of every place I can see is coated with epoxy. I was told it is epoxy by the previous owner; he got this information from the smell from some grinding he did.  I have yet to cut or grind.

Aft dinette, two doubles in forward cabin over the wings and one mini-double beneath the cockpit. Access to the center portion of the amas from just outboard of the bunks.

Wooden mast and boom. Some sort of modified Brown self-steering (I have only recently found what I think are the last parts for it). Hydraulic steering.

Yanmar 27hp with Maxprop 3 bladed feathering prop. Pushed her about 8-9 knots max up in Puget sound in flat, calm conditions.  Does about 7-8 knots at 2200 to 2400 rpm, at about 2/3 of a gallon an hour.

Centerboard. Poorly executed dinghy hanger on port side; soon to be replaced with a rack for two solar panels (top of rack will be just above the windows in the galley)

Not really sure what else is 'peculiar' about her; I am not all that familiar with the original design. I do like her more aerodynamic upper decks, but they are a bit more treacherous than the flat sections I see in 'typical' Browns.

New Owner Bruno writes:

I plan to fix her with some modifications , especially the pilothouse to a bigger hard bimini style. Then I want to get to a warmer place (Mexico) to finish her. I will cross the Pacific to South East Asia via Polynesia

I work as a boat Captain in the West Indies and will not be able to work on her before September.
